Community Information

Clyde Township was formed in 1877 from Pigeon, Beaverdam and Waynesville. At first it was called Lower Pigeon. Later the township was named Clyde after the little town that had grown up on the banks of the Pigeon River. Located just 20 miles west of Asheville, the town has a history of providing shelter for weary travelers. Explore the Shook Museum, the Big Gun, and check out the Haywood County Quilt Trail. Clyde is truly small-town Americana.
